System load information
A useful piece of diagnostics information when investigating intermittent issues, is the load (or stress) the client PC is currently under.
If CPU usage is near 100% then tasks that should complete instantly can take a perceptible amount of time. This can lead to frustration or confusion for the user and often lead to additional clicks as the user is unsure whether their first click was accepted. If memory usage is near 100% then allocating new blocks of continuous memory can fail and lead to unexpected failures in code that a developer is adamant shouldn’t fail.
TrackPath now monitors the average CPU and memory load between screens and logs the value with the next screen. The values are displayed as small bar graphs beside the screen thumbnail in the left-hand tree. The green graph shows CPU usage and the orange graph shows memory usage.
This feature will be available from v1.1.
